KING OF DIAMONDS is described in 'The Irish Draught Horse' by Alex Fell as 'the single best known Irish Draught of modern times, he has been described as the saviour of the Irish Draught as a breed, as a result of his prepotent jumping ability', but KING OF DIAMONDS is technically not a pure Irish Draught. He was by Errigal a son of Silvermines, which was the Irish Draught side of his parentage. His dam Ruby was by True Boy, a halfbred sire who traces to Kildare, a well known Irish Draught stallion at the beginning of the century. The grand dam was the Thoroughbred mare Biddens. King of Diamonds was ranked 21st in the World Breeding Rankings for the period 1992 - 2001 on the basis of 19 of his progeny, including Rodrigo Pessoa's Special Envoy, John Ledingham's Millstreet Ruby, and Joe Fargis' Mill Pearl.

DIAMOND PERGOLA was purchased by the family as a 9 year old and exported to the United Arab Emirates as a show jumping schoolmistress for the youngest  of the three daughters. She took the 14 year old, through the show jumping grades, being as honest as she was talented. In the UAE Junior Derby (1.25m), which was a tough test of not only jumping ability, but also stamina and bravery, DIAMOND PERGOLA proved unbeatable, infact having had just 4 faults (at the smallest fence on the course, on the top of the derby bank) she was in fact the ONLY horse and rider combination to complete the course, every other rider was eliminated.

A good rider can hear their horse speak to them,  a great rider can hear their horse whisper.
