SANDRINA is by the legendary stallion SANDRO, there is no denying the valuable influence this stallion has had on the development of modern sports horses worldwide. As a broodmare sire Sandro has also been exceptionally successful: Lasango (Kurt Reinacher), San Serai Funky Town (Björn Nagel), Lausano (René Tebbel), Risandro (Samantha McIntosh), Filias (Arnoldo Bologni), High Class (Royne Zettermann), Cappucino and Santa Fe (Marco Kutscher), Grand Soso (Markus Fuchs), Grand Soso II (Ulrik Kjaer) and High Stepper (Maria Gretzer) – all Grand Prix showjumpers, all out of daughters of SANDRO. He is unique in that he is the only stallion son of the cross of Sacramento Song and Wahnfried – a cross that has also been very successful in producing dams of stallions. The stallions Lavell I and II, Atlantas Z and Campione, as well as international jumping horses, Cathleen (Meredith Beerbaum – then Michaels) and Zigeunerin (Rodrigo Pessoa) all came from that cross. Sandro’s dam, Dürte is the full sister of one of the most successful Puissance horses ever – Wabbs. Durte is also the dam of Harvey Smith’s Salvador.
NATUSCHKA, the dam of SANDRINA, has bloodlines that go back to the French Demi-Sang (partbred TB) NANKIN, a leading jumper sire in France, descends from `Sir Gallahad III. NANKIN is the sire of Talisman D, the jumping champion of Germany, who won 140 international prizes in nine years, ridden by Paul Schockemohle, also the sire of Uppercut, a successful international jumper for the Swiss rider Francis Racine. NANKIN sired 34 graded stallions and 44 dams of stallions. He is also found in the pedigree of QUIDAM DE REVEL, bronze medal winner at the Barcelona Olympics. Her damlines are influenced by the Hanoverian stallion WINNETOU, who is in the pedigree of many top international showjumpers including Top Gun part of the Gold Medal winning Team ridden by Jan Tops also at the Barcelona Olympics.
SANDRINA is a superb type of sport horse mare, being athletic in frame, but not short on bone like so many of the modern horses are now-a-days. She is a dark brown/black double branded Hanoverian, who was imported from Germany at the age of 3, to be backed and produced as a future top sports horse. Unfortunately due to a serious paddock injury, her potential would never be realised, she was retired to stud at the tender age of 5 years old. She is very influential in stamping her foals and 4 out of the 5 she has produced for us have been carbon copies of their mother.
At the B.E.F. Futurity Scheme in 2008, SANDRINA had 3 of her foals presented for evaluation. SANDROA her filly foal, at foot, was awarded a high 1st Premium in the show jumping section. Her yearling filly BLISS DU ROUET also received a high 1st premium in the show jumping section. GALLAVANT, her 3 year old filly was awarded 'Elite" Premium in the showjumping section and a 1st Premium in the Dressage section. Due to the outstanding achievements of her 3 daughters, SANDRINA was crowned Champion Broodmare of the 2008 B.E.F. Futurity Series.
