On his dams side we see yet another outstanding dressage stallion in WELT HIT I 0, who was trained to Grand Prix level by Bianca Kesselmann, wife of Ulli Kasselmann, the head of the PSI dressage barn. He was the first of the famous foals of the Hill Hawk xx mare, Cileste to be discovered by the Kasselmanns, and according to Ulli, all of them looked pretty under-done when he bought them. So much so that the Oldenburg licensing commission refused WELT HIT at his initial stallion licensing. Later the commission was meeting in regard to another matter at the Kasselmann property, and they were asked once again look at WELT HIT. Still they refused, until a determined Bianca Kasselmann brought him through the front door and into the reception area and stood him up in front of an astonished licensing commission. They agreed to reconsider their original verdict and the first of the brothers (from 1 to 6) was approved. In 1995 WELT HIT I 0 won the Stallion Performance Test at Medingen. The damline has also produced Granilli (by Grannus, a private stallion in Bavaria) as well as the approved stallions, Wolgatraum (by Woronesch) and Herannus (by Grannus, exported to The Netherlands). The dam’s dynasty is based on East Friesian stock with a marked Arabian influence. Cileste’s maternal great grandfather was the anglo arab, Haladin. Welt Hit I 0 was reserve champion in the 3 year olds in 1994, and the following year became the champion 4 year old riding horse at the 1995 Bundeschampionate the first of Mrs Kasselmann’s many successes with the handsome chestnut stallion. WELT HIT I 0 was only coming into his own as a sire at the time of his untimely death due to colic in October 2002.
