The pedigree of Legrande is full of internationally recognised names, his father Lefevre, a graded Holsteiner was a top international show jumping prospect until an unfortunate accident at home ended what looked to be a very promising career at the tender age of 5. His grandsire, Lombard, who in turn is by the legendary stallion Landgraf I, needs no introduction. He is a horse who is recognised as one of the foundation stallions of the Holsteiner dynasty, He is considered by many warmblood breeders across the globe to be one of, if not the, Stallion of the Century.  Of all the Ladykiller sons, Landgraf I was able to assert himself the best. At this time, he is the most successful sire of show jumpers the world has ever seen. He has produced 130 approved stallion sons, who are active in every breed association in Germany as well as many in Europe, along with those of the USA. His impact on warmblood breeding will be known for generations to come.  He is truly an important consideration in any pedigree. Lefevre is also the maternal grandsire of the Oldenburg 3 year old Champion dressage stallion Kaiser Karl. So you can see, we have a show jumping pedigree, which also produces youngsters with enough correct movement to be champion dressage horses too.

Lefevre is out of the State Premium mare Maja, she carries the important lines of Cor De La Bryere into the family tree. He is a horse who has been described by some as the stallion that revolutionized show jumping breeding, who’s impact on Holsteiner and Oldenburg studbooks will be felt for a very long time.  He was the 1971 Champion of his stallion 100-day grading, and when he died, he had 85 approved sons, and 65 States Premium daughters, as well as countless approved grandsons and great-grandsons.  Cor De La Bryere is probably one of the most famous and influential half-Thoroughbred stallions in Holsteiner history, second only to Landgraf I. It has been voiced many times that breeders will do well with Cor De La Bryere in the bloodlines.

Legrande’s dam family tree, is where his pedigree gets interesting and also where his stunning golden colour originates. His mother La Serina, a registered palomino Oldenburg who competed in national show jumping up to 1.30, carries into the mix both Trakehner and Kinsky bloodlines. Her father My Boy, was a stallion of outstanding conformation, ability and incredible colour. He was bred in The Czech Republic and smuggled, by truck, into East Germany by an army platoon during a reconnaissance mission. He not only went on to sire some of the most stunning golden horses in the region, but he also competed in national show jumping competitions up to 1.40. He was by the outstanding Russian Trakehner Obvod, a stallion that has shaped the breed over the years with many registered and licensed offspring. We also find the Trakehner stallions Ralf and Neujahr in the pedigree both of who had a tremendous influence on the development of the Trakehner breed’s reputation in the region as top performance horses.

Lefevre is also the maternal grandsire of the Oldenburg 3 year old Champion dressage stallion Kaiser Karl. So you can see, we have a show jumping pedigree, which also produces youngsters with enough correct movement to be champion dressage horses too.

Myjava, the dam of My Boy, was an Elite Palomino Czech Warmblood mare, who produced 12 progeny throughout her breeding career, a number of which have competed with success in both show jumping and dressage. Out of these several became approved stallions, one of which was of course My Boy. She is a daughter of one of the best-known golden stallions in Czech history, the legendary Marin Lipský whose name appears in many pedigrees of top golden horses throughout the world, and who's lines trace back to what is believed to be the founder of the ancient Bohemian Golden Horse lines developed by Count Octavian Kinsky, Caesar, who was a successful racehorse in 1856.

Legrande is a very special modern young sports horse stallion, who has been produced slowly; he is already showing an exceptional jump with a fantastic technique and unlimited scope. He has a superb temperament in and out of his stable, but most importantly when out and about at competitions. He has completed two years of dressage training, proving he has powerful, athletic off the floor movement, he has an outstanding hind leg and natural elevation in all three of his paces. During this time he qualified for the Regional Finals with scores in the 70% and has BD points. He also finished in the top ten for the Shearwater Potential International Young Dressage Horse class at the Welsh Festival. Legrande started his jumping career in March 2009 and attended his first affiliated show in May. He is jumping double clears in British Novice, Discovery, Newcomer and Foxhunter classes.
